Anyone who has nudged a car through Chowk or down toward the Sangam during the Magh Mela knows Prayagraj traffic is a stop-start grind for weeks at a stretch, and that pilgrimage surge is the single biggest reason to think hard about gearbox and fuel before you sign. A clutch leg gets old fast in that crawl, and a thirsty petrol motor idling in jams adds up. The Baleno answers both with its AGS automatic and its factory CNG, and which one suits you depends on how much of your year is spent in that congestion.

The lineup is nine variants. Four are petrol manuals, Sigma through Alpha MT. Three are AGS clutchless automatics in Delta, Zeta and Alpha trim. Two are factory CNG manuals, the Delta CNG and Zeta CNG MT. On-road they span ₹6.88 lakh to ₹10.38 lakh, with Uttar Pradesh's 9% road tax and first-year insurance stacked onto each ex-showroom price.

For a family that mainly drives inside the old city and around Civil Lines, the Zeta AGS at ₹9.37 lakh on-road is the one to look at. Stepping from the Zeta MT to the Zeta AGS costs about ₹56,000, near ₹940 a month on a 60-month loan with 20% down at roughly 9.25%, and that left leg stays still through every Sangam-bound jam. Your bank will land on slightly different EMI numbers. If your running is heavy, say daily trips out to Naini or Jhunsi, the Delta CNG at ₹8.80 lakh cuts fuel cost enough to matter over a few years.

A quick check at the dealer: get the insurance broken out from the road tax on paper. Allahabad quotes often fold a zero-dep or roadside package into one big insurance figure, and you may not want all of it in year one. The UP road tax itself is a fixed 9%, so it should not be a line you negotiate, only one you verify.

Two ways to read it. If your Baleno mostly lives in Prayagraj's congested core, the AGS is worth every rupee of that ₹940 a month for the clutchless ease. If you cover long daily distances out of town, the CNG's running-cost saving is the stronger argument, even though you give up the automatic. Pick the pain you most want to avoid, the jam or the fuel bill.
