The much-awaited Kia Sonet facelift is going to be unwrapped by the brand in India in December 2023. With this facelift, the subcompact SUV will get some notable exterior design makeovers as suggested by the photos we reported last month with minor cosmetic updates on the inside, The SUV will also get new headlamps with vertical extensions to match it with the updated Kia lineup along with refreshed alloys and bumpers. The rear of the bike will also likely get full-width tail lamps similar to its bigger sibling, Seltos. Update : Kia Sonet 2024 Facelift revealed
Coming to the inside, there aren’t many updates the SUV gets except some minor styling changes though it is possible Kia upgrades the tech here. The updated Sonet will continue with all the tech from the outgoing model though there’s a chance the SUV will get ADAS to match its sister from another mother (or manufacturer), the Hyundai Venue along with a chance of getting equipped with 6 airbags as standard across all the variants. Currently, Venue is the only SUV in this segment in the country to come with ADAS.
Talking about its powertrain, the Sonet facelift will continue with the existing options which include the 83hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a manual gearbox, while the 112hp, 1.5-litre diesel and 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol units will likely carry over the 6-speed iMT and automatic gearbox options. There’s a high chance of Kia adding a 6-speed manual to the range as well since Hyundai has dropped the option of iMT gearboxes on its lineup in India.
For now, the updated Kia Sonet will break its cover in the Indian market and the launch could take place sometime in December itself, with pricing of the variants to be announced later. The Sonet Facelift will continue with the same rivals after its launch which include Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Mahindra XUV300 and Nissan Magnite.
