As Mahindra continues to conduct several test runs of the 5-door variant of the famous Thar Lifestyle SUV ahead of its debut on 15th August, several spy shots have emerged over the period revealing several exciting details and information. The latest spy shots however give us a look at what might be an important safety feature to come with the model.
So as seen in the new set of images of the camouflaged test mule of the upcoming Thar 5-door AKA Thar Armada, there’s a camera setup behind the IRVM. This unit is highly likely to be used for ADAS, making the vehicle susceptible to getting this feature upon launch.
Apart from that, the Mahindra Thar 5-door test mule features a new grille, circular headlights, a single-pane electric sunroof, fender-mounted turn indicators, 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, fog lights, new LED taillights and a high-mounted stop lamp. Other features include A-pillar mounted grab handles, circular AC vents, new 5-spoke alloy wheels for lower-specs & 19-inch multi-spoke diamond cut alloy wheels for the higher variants, adjustable front headrests, a 10.25-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system taken from the XUV400 and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
Coming to the powertrain, the new 5-door variant of the Mahindra Thar is expected to sport the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the 2.2-litre diesel engine which are paired with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. Furthermore, the SUV will some with both the 4WD and 2WD options to attract a wider range of customers. Upon launch, the Thar 5-door will lock horns with the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door.
