Renault 5 EV Images Leaked Ahead of Debut
The leaked images which showcase the Renault 5 EV in its full production-spec glory suggest that the upcoming hatchback has retained most of its design, overall silhouette and other components from the 2021 concept car.
The bright yellow shade that Renault chose to go for is quite eye-catching and suits the hatchback. The paint job is further enhanced by the subtle addition of the red line along the side profile, mirrors and other parts of the car, which really complements it well.
That’s not all. Renault should also get a pat on the back for sticking to the Design roots of the concept car and its because of that the production-spec model packs a lot of wow factors. The front gets a Renault logo in the middle followed by two cuts across the width. Similar to the concept, the black panel on the bonnet shows the charging status when plugged in.
Going a bit lower we have the grille, which houses cameras and radar modules for some compulsory active safety systems in Europe. Another highlight is the headlamps which has a quad-LED element like a camera shutter similar to the Porsche Taycan. The lower bumper also houses two large square LED DRLs on both sides.
The rear door handles are in the C-Piller along with some character lines in the rear quarter panels. The alloys looks quite cool with gloss black body panels all over the Renault 5 EV’s body. The tail lights at the back are vertically-stacked LEDs connected by a black glossy plaque.
On the inside, the camera shutter elements on the LED headlamps continues, especially on all its climate vents. Features include tiggle-syle climate control functions. electronic parking brake, gear selector buttons, 3-spoke steering wheel with integrated start-stop button, glossy steering-mounted controls and more.
Apart from that, there are two displays on the dashboard – the taller one for infdotainment and the wider one is the driver’s display. The car’s charging spot is situated on the front left quarter panel.
The Renualt 5 EV is built on the CMF-B-EV platform which comes equipped with a 52 kWh battery pack and promises a WLTP-claimed range of 400 km on a single charge. Powering the electric hatchback is a sole 135 bhp electric motor.
