New Maruti Suzuki Swift Details Leaked Ahead of Launch, Bookings Open!

The new 4th Gen Maruti Swift is expected to launch a week from now, and prior to that, new information on the hatchback has been leaked which provides glimpses of features, engine details and fuel efficiency. Although a lot of details about the Swift were known thanks to its debut months ago, the leaked brochure images provide some information such as the power & torque output of the new Z series engine along with the safety features and mileage of the vehicle.

New Swift Bookings open

So, as we reported earlier, the new Z series engine which will replace the K-series engine on the new Swift, will be a more fuel-efficient but less powerful unit. The brochure leak confirms this and the new model has a claimed mileage of 25.27 kmpl which is up from the outgoing model by 3 kmpl. However, it is yet to be seen whether this figure is for manual or automatic transmission. Additionally, its also not confirmed yet whether the new Swift will get a Torque convertor auto or AMT automatic like the outgoing model.

Another detail confirmed is the output figures of the new 3-pot naturally aspirated engine which is confirmed to generate 82 hp and 112 Nm of Peak Torque, an 8 hp and 1 Nm down when compared to the famous K series engine. It will be interesting to see how the figures affect the performance of the hatchback in the real world.

New Swift Safety 4 Stars

Last but not least, the leaked brochure also confirms that the new Swift will carry more features than the outgoing Swift. The top variant will feature a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen system, a wireless charger, rear AC vents, an Arkymys sound system and C-type USB ports. The key highlight in the features upgrade is the safety kit on the new Swift which includes 6 airbags as standard. Moreover, the higher trims will also get LED fog lamps. The Japan-spec Swift recently scored 4 stars at the JNCAP but that model is equipped with premium features like ADAS which the India-bound doesn’t get, so only time will tell how the Safe is the new India-spec Swift.
