Diwali is here and like always in every festive season, car dealers have all pulled up with super cool discounts and other benefits like exchange benefits, corporate offers and more in their line-up especially hatchbacks. So, here’s a list of the hatchbacks that you can buy with discounts.
Citroen C3
Let’s start with the French manufacturer Citroen’s offering, the C3, which honestly looks like more of an SUV with its styling than a hatchback. But that’s not a bad thing considering it’s spacious and this Diwali it comes with benefits up to 1 lakh. What can be a deal breaker is the lack of features in this car which is understandable since features play an important role nowadays. But if your primary concern is driving experience and feel, then this car is one of the best in the segment, since it has both a capable powertrain and good overall handling with proper safety features.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio
We cannot talk about hatchbacks on discounts without including Maruti Suzuki on our lists right? In this festive season, Maruti has put benefits in most of their hatches, and Celerio is the one which gets the most benefits (Up to Rs 73,000). The Celerio is essentially a more modern take on the Alto and is one of the most fuel-efficient cars you can in the country and even gets adequate features you pay for. But the top variants get quite expensive and it’s not exactly the ideal car if you are expecting any sort of performance from it.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10
The king of budget hatchbacks, the K10 continues to reign despite being the smallest Maruti car in India, thanks to its easy-to-maintain nature, reliability and peppy engine. This car is also one of the most affordable cars in the country to own and with discounts up to Rs 70,000 this Diwali, it’s definitely a good chance for budget buyers.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis
The smallest and most affordable car in Maruti’s Nexa line-up, the Ignis is definitely the underdog and enjoys attention despite not being the typical Maruti’s bestseller. With discounts up to Rs 65,000 this Diwali, the Ignis becomes quite the value-for-money car you can consider instead of the Celerio. This hatchback has a peppy engine and is fun to drive and despite having a compact footprint, it’s spacious and somehow will steal some glances on the road.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The good old Wagon R can definitely be your choice if you want a reliable family car with a spacious interior and a peppy engine. The hatchback is decently feature-packed and is a very practical car for city commutes. Maruti Suzuki is currently offering discounts of up to Rs 58,000 on the Wagon R so it can be a good choice if your primary need is a practical and well-rounded car.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
The Baleno is one of the top sellers of the brand and it’s obvious why. The car has the best comfort in the segment and is quite spacious too along with good ride quality. The engine is also quite efficient and the overall package this hatchback provides is one of the best in class with discounts and benefits of up to Rs 55,000, this car becomes even more affordable this Diwali.
Hyundai i20 N Line
The Hyundai i20 N Line is the sportier and more stylish variant of the regular i20. And by sporty, I mean not only in exterior and interior styling but also in performance and exhaust note which makes it a popular choice among young buyers and enthusiasts. Recently the N Line also got a facelift and so the unsold pre-facelift stocks are being sold by many dealerships with discounts of up to Rs 55,000. The N Line is also the only performance-oriented hatchback in this list and in the Indian market right now, so it has no rivals and can be a good option if you want a punchy yet reliable car.
Renault Kwid
The Kwid once upon a time was once a good seller thanks to its SUV-like stance and styling and good features when compared to its direct rival the Alto K10. But those days are gone and you won’t see the Kwid anywhere on a list anymore and it’s not even that much sold. That is the reason why many dealers are offering up to Rs 50,000 worth of benefits on this 5-seater hatchback. Although not as refined and peppy as its rival, the discount makes it a good option for buyers.
Tata Tiago
Tata Tiago is getting benefits of up to Rs 40,000 but only on its CNG variants. The hatchback is a solid package of looks, handling, and features but the engine is disappointing and may become a deal breaker for some. The advantage of the CNG variant though is the fuel economy and the twin-cylinder layout doesn’t even take up that much boot space.
Tata Altroz
Unlike the Tiago, the Altroz gets a discount of up to Rs 30,000 across most variants, including CNG. What makes the Altroz the most unique hatchback in the list and the whole country is its diesel powertrain, which is still in supply. Although rivals are more spacious and come with better features, the Altroz provides a good riding experience and most of all safety, an aspect rarely seen in hatchbacks of this segment.
Best Car to Buy in Diwali? (Our Opinion)
The best car to buy ultimately depends on the buyer and his/her needs and budget. But in our opinion the best car if you want a car to drive and not use its features much, the Citroen C3 is a good choice, but the best overall car is either the i20 N Line or Maruti Baleno. While the former provides a mix of solid looks, sporty engine and performance and decent interiors, the latter has the best-in-class comfort and ride experience with well-equipped interiors.
