2024 Kia Sonet facelift testing continues, gets new design and features

Kia continues the testing of the Sonet facelift under a black cover. The new version of the SUV will make its debut in December of this year.

Seltos and Sonet are the SUVs that let Kia set a strong foothold in India, so it’s obvious the Seltos deserves an upgrade since it’s still in 1st Generation. The car was launched way back in 2020.

Sonet facelift – Fresh look, but no scope for feature upgrades

The Sonet will see a design change and some new features. The front has been changed, the headlights and DRL design are new, and there’s a silver element on the front bumper that connects the fog lamps.

Talking about the backside, it sports a redesigned bumper and a larger grille. The taillight setups are also new with LEDs, inspired by its sibling Seltos Facelift. Furthermore, the car will also get new dual-tone alloy wheels which are likely to be 16-inch units.

Now, feature-wise there won’t be a huge list of new and upgraded stuff since the Sonet is already a feature-loaded car, to begin with. The SUV is likely to come with a new digital instrument cluster and an updated infotainment screen, a newly designed dashboard, a dashcam, an ADAS suite, and more.

The current Sonet has features like a Sunroof, parking sensors, rear AC vents, climate control, ventilated seats, wireless charging, a 10-inch infotainment screen and more. So, there isn’t much scope or space to add new features to begin with.

However, Kia can add more safety features to the vehicle or update the existing ones.

Sonet facelift – Powertrain and rivals

The new Sonet facelift will probably have the following engine options – a 1.2-litre NA petrol motor which produces 82hp and is mated with a 5-speed MT, a 1.5-litre Diesel which produces a more powerful 114hp and will feature a 6-speed iMT, and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.

The Kia Sonet right now comes at a price between Rs 7.79 lakh – Rs 14.89 lakh and competes with the likes of Fronx, Brezza, and Exter.
