Renault has recently unveiled the new generation Duster and based on that, a new pickup truck has been digitally rendered by Kolesa. This digitally created Pickup is not only a potential competitor in the Pickup segment but also reminiscent of the existing Renault Duster Oroch.
Renault Duster Oroch: What is that?
The Duster Oroch is a 4-door pickup truck of the standard Duster SUV, developed by Renault Technologie Roumanie (Romania) which was first showcased as a concept car at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in 2014 and went on sale in 2015 for the South American market.
New Renault Duster Pickup Render
Now with the new generation Duster, Renault is likely to launch a new Duster Oroch based on the SUV and Kolsea from Russia imagines what the new Duster pickup would look like. Do note that rather than a Dacia, Kolsea is imaging the Pickup as a Renault which is good for us, since it is relevant to our market anyway.
For the render, Kolsea used the design from the recently revealed Turkey-spec Renault Duster. The RENAULT lettering on a prominent black background fills up a good part of the front. Meanwhile, Dacia is using the brand’s new logo in place of the RENAULT lettering.
The rear looks new and very rugged with the same tail lights as the regular Duster, connected by a black plaque.
Talking about size, The Duster Oroch is quite a small truck at just 4.7 m in length, when compared to other pickup trucks in India like the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway, Isuzu V-Cross, Tata Xenon XT and Toyota Hilux, all of which are 5.2m to 5.4m long.
Also unlike the other trucks, the Oroch does not have a physically separated load bay, similar to the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Nonetheless, the truck has plenty of practicality and utility.
What about the Power?
The Kolsea.Ru’s version of the Renault Duster Pickup will likely be powered by 1.6L petrol and 2.0L Petrol engines with AWD as optional. In Turkey, the new Duster gets a 1.0L 3-cylinder 100 bhp engine along with a 1.2L mild hybrid and 1.6L hybrid units.
We are not sure yet whether the pickup will ever hit the Indian market but if it does, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio X pickup will have a perfect rival. Currently, Renault is going kind of big in the global market with many upcoming launches planned such as the Renault 5 EV which was recently leaked ahead of its global debut.
