The Volkswagen ID 3 GTX has finally made its debut as a sporty variant of the ID 3 Hatchback. This much-awaited all-electric alternative to the Iconic Golf GTI has been waiting since the EV hatchback was first revealed back in 2019.

The ID 3 GTX gets a performance-oriented design with several subtle elements that make the EV more sportier. These include a new GTX-specific front bumper at the front along with new LED DRLs connected by a black gloss trim. At the back, we get a rear diffuser with a sporty integrated spoiler. The overall red-black paint scheme screams performance and style, which is further enhanced by the 20-inch alloy wheels, which are standard.
Going inside, it is evident that the ID 3 GTX takes inspiration from the Golf GTI and gets sporty-looking seats with red stitching and GTX lettering. The EV further features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that has been revised to run on VW’s latest software.
The EV also gets several chassis and suspension changes intended to give it a more aggressive character. The ID 3 GTX features retuned steering that now offers greater precision and has a new Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) system that uses sensors to detect wheel movement to improve handling and overall ride quality.
This hot hatch also gets VW’s latest APP550 electric motor on the rear axle which develops 285 hp and a substantial increase in torque as well, as much as 545 Nm. The battery has also grown from 77 kWh to 79 kWh and VW claims a range of up to 600 km for the standard variant with DC charging maxing at 175 kW.
