Mercedes Benz is all set to invest Rs 200 Crore and launch over 12 models in India in 2024. The German luxury carmaker has enjoyed a successful 2023 and has some big plans for 2024, which also marks 30 years of Mercedes in the country. Along with new investments and product launches, the brand is also all set to expand its pan-India network.
Here’s how Mercedes Benz celebrates 30 years in India
Mercedes has announced up to Rs 200 crore worth of investment to boost production capabilities and development for new technologies. The investment will go into their factory in Pune and the total investment amount adds up to Rs 3000 crore in India as of now.
Apart from that, Mercedes has also confirmed to go full-on offence with the launch of over 12 new models in India in 2024 which has already begun with the recent entry of the GLS SUV Facelift. The brand further states that over 50% of these new launches will be top-end models with a starting price tag of Rs 1.5 crore and will be more SUV-focused, a decision taken after a thorough study of their own buyer’s trends.
In 2024, the launches will include 3 EVs, which are expected to include the EQE sedan and EQS SUV. Mercedes sold a record 17,408 cars in India in 2023, 10% higher than in 2022 and expects 25% of sales in India to come from EVs in the coming 5 years.
The brand is also gearing up to open 20 more workshops and expand its network to 10 new cities including Kannur, Jammu, Agra, Kanpur, Patna, Udaipur, Ranchi, Valsad, Amritsar and Kottayam. Along with this, Mercedes announces the extension of its Electric Vehicle charging network open to even customers of other brands to boost the adoption of EVs in the country.
