India-Spec Kawasaki Ninja 400 Discontinued

Kawasaki has called it quits with the Ninja 400, a few months after it launched the Ninja 500. The Ninja 400 was launched in India back in 2018 with a Rs 4.69 Lakh (ex-showroom, India), price tag which was quite high.

It was an all-new model and shared almost nothing with the heavily localized Ninja 300, which is still on sale and going strong in the Indian market despite being discontinued internationally for many years. In fact, the Ninja 300 is a very popular model since it offers a lot for the price you pay.

Kawasaki Ninja 400 Discontinued – Goodbye!

The Ninja 400 went off sale for nearly two years when the BS6 emission norms came into effect back in 2020 and came back in 2022. Although an impressive bike that carries the Ninja spirit with its beautiful design, lots of power and features, the bike couldn’t make it big in India like its smaller Ninja 300 sibling due to its unreasonably high price tag.

The newly launched Kawasaki Ninja 500 now replaces the Ninja 400 worldwide and is actually heavily based on the former, even using a stroked-out version of the 399cc engine. At Rs 5.24 Lakh, the Ninja 500 is priced exactly the same as the Ninja 400, except its newer and more packed than the latter making the former more reasonably priced. In fact, the Ninja 400 was heavily discounted in the months prior to its discontinuation to help clear the old inventory and make space for the Ninja 500.
