Check out the 2024 Honda NX400 and CBR400R

Honda recently introduced the all-new NX400 along with the 2024 updated CBR400R in Japan. The brand announced the arrival of a 400cc version of the NX500 earlier which was recently launched in India and the NX400 is a smaller brother of the latter and a successor of the 400X crossover.

The new NX400 has been positioned as more of a modern street adventure bike and despite being a 400X-inspired bike, it gets a different appearance and updated elements.

In fact both the NX400 and CBR400R get new features such as a 5-inch full-colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation and Honda Selectable Torque Control.

Talking about design, the 2024 CBR400R also gets a refreshed design with changes to certain elements such as the headlight, tail light and headlamp cowl. These changes enhance the overall sportiness of the motorbike.

Coming to the colour options the new CBR400R now get 3 colour options – Grand Prix Red, Matte Ballistic Black Metallic and an all-black theme, which is also available with the NX400 as well. The ADV also gets another colour option called the Pearl Glare White.

Being an adventure bike, the NX400 is obviously taller and bigger than the CBR400R. The NX400 stands at 2150 mm length, 830 mm width and 1390 mm height while the CBR400R stands at 2080 mm height, 760 mm width and 1145 mm height. Accordingly, the NX400 also has more ground clearance of 150 mm, as compared to the 130 mm clearance of the CBR400R. Obviously being the bigger bike, the NX400 is also 5kg heavier than the CBR400R.

Both bikes feature Showa SFF-BP inverted fork and assist and slipper clutch with braking being taken off by double discs at the front and a single rear disc. While the CBR400R rides 17-inch wheels on both ends, the NX400 gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels.

Powering both the 2024 Honda NX400 and CBR400R is a 399cc, water-cooled, 4-valve parallel 2-cylinder, DOHC engine that produces 46 PS of power and 38 Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The fuel tank capacity of both bikes is 17L respectively.

Since, Sports and Adventure bikes are getting strong attention in India with successful launches such as the Triumph 400 series, Himalayan 450 and the Harley Davidson X440 and the craze for the upcoming Puslar NS400, Honda could take note of the favourable conditions and launch both the NX400 and CBR400R models in the Indian markets. The market is particularly favoured towards the CBR, as many riders are demanding for a middleweight CBR to launch here.
