TVS Motor bought Norton Motorcycles back in 2020 and has been working hard ever since to revive this legendary British brand. Although the company was purchased for a low 16 million pounds, TVS has invested a total of 113 million pounds into this brand and the good news is we will see the result of these investments in the upcoming 3 years.
Norton brand to introduce 6 new bikes, will come to India
As per the MD of TVS Motor, Sudarshan Venu, there will be a lot to see from Norton in the coming years. While the brand has been selling its existing models that were there before TVS took over, some new products will start rolling from next year onwards.
Norton plans to launch 6 new motorbikes over the next 3 years and the first of these models will debut sometime in 2025 and will go live in India soon after its international launch. Do note that these new models will not be based on the 650 cc Nomad or Atlas which were showcased in 2018.
Expect the Norton range to carry expensive pricing since the MD assures that Norton will remain a premium brand, however, the pricing of the current lineup should not be taken as an indicative of the pricing of the upcoming products. For reference, the company’s current 961 and V4 bike ranges are priced higher than almost all the major bikemakers and hence have sold in few numbers. But that’s somewhat understandable since these bikes were legacy products before TVS took over.
Furthermore, TVS spent a lot of time fixing all the significant engineering issues the brand had. It even took the responsibility to address existing customer issues from before the acquisition, despite having no legal obligation to do so.
Although Norton will retain its premium status and expensive pricing, the new models will be somewhat more affordable than the current lineup.
