Honda finally debuts the City Hatchback facelift in Thailand and it has received a similar set of updates from the Honda City Facelift in terms of both cosmetic and features, which was recently launched in Thailand.
Honda City Hatchback Facelift – Highlights
Most of the new makeover elements have been borrowed from the City sedan facelift that was launched in Thailand last year. Some of these updates include a slimmer chrome strip at the front and a new mesh design for the grille.
Also, this update made the styling a bit different for RS and non-RS variants. For example, the RS variants have a more aggressive bumper with a new diffuser-like element at the rear while in comparison the non-RS variants have a blacked-out lower back.
Not much has been changed in the cabin of the city hatchback facelift, except for some minor updates like two USB-C charging ports for the rear passenger instead of the power outlet earlier and a dedicated mobile inner pocket for the rear passengers. Do note that these updates are available only with the e:HEV variants.
Apart from this, the higher trims of the Honda City Hatchback facelift are getting features such as a multi-angle reverse camera, Honda Connect Telematics, 16-inch alloys, 7-inch digital driver display, Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, rain-sensing wipers, Honda LaneWatch and electronic parking brake. Honda is also offering ADAS via the Honda Sensing Suite for all the variants for enhanced safety.
Colour schemes also differ according to the variant. The RS variants have two exclusive colour options – Ignite Red Metallic and Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic with Black Roof. For the S+ variant, we have 4 colour options – Crystal Black Pearl, Sonic Gray Panel, Tafetta White and Meteorid Gray Metallic. There’s also a Platinum White Pearl paint job which is exclusive to the e:HEV RS, e:HEV SV, SV and RS variants.
Talking about the powertrain, the base S+, SV and RS variants are powered by a 1.0-litre Inline 3 VTEC Turbo Petrol unit that generates 122 PS of Max power and 173 Nm of peak torque. This motor supports gasohol, which is a 10% ethanol fuel mix.
Meanwhile the new e:HEV SV and the existing e:HEV RS variants are using an Intelligent Multi-mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid system that comprises an electric motor that produces 109 PS and 253 Nm. The integrated 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC petrol generates 98 PS and 127 Nm. There’s also a second electric motor as well, but that only functions as a starter and generator while the petrol engine primarily charges the battery.

With Indian customers having a strong liking towards SUVS, it is very unlikely that the Honda City Hatchback facelift will be launched here, since for the price of this hatch, people would rather go for top SUVs such as Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the new Hyundai Creta and also the upcoming the Tata Curvv C-SUV.
