The latest spy shots of a 450cc Royal Enfield, possibly the RE Scram 450 have emerged recently. The bike was spied on during its test runs and upon launch will take on the likes of Triumph Speed 400, KTM 390 Duke and Hero Mavrick 440.

Royal Enfield Scram 450 Spied – Highlights

Given the 450cc segment is going hot right now, it’s highly possible that the upcoming roadster will be one of the most affordable bikes in Royal Enfield’s 450cc lineup. Why? Because there are some changes in the equipment section. When compared to the Himalayan 450 which has 43 mm USD forks, the roadster is equipped with standard telescopic forks. Do note that it is possible that USD forks will be offered as an option in higher variants.

To further minimize the cost, the Scram 450 will borrow a number of components from the Himalayan 450, which includes the all-LED lighting setup, a monoshock suspension at the rear and 320 mm front / rear 270 mm disc brakes with dual-channel ABS as standard. The bike has 17-inch alloys at both ends with quite a chonky rear tyre ensuring extra road grip. The Scram 450 has an upright stance ensuring comfort and seat height is also expected to be less than 800 mm, which is quite accessible.

Key design elements that we can figure out from the spy shots are the round headlamps, offset filler cap, fork gaiters, curvy fuel tank, short tail section and a single-piece seat. The 4-inch TFT instrument cluster also appears to be the same as the new Himalayan and will possibly get the same features such as Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and media controls.

From the spy shots, it seems that the Scram 450 will be powered by the same 452cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder, 4-valve engine that generates 40.02 PS of power and 40 Nm of Torque. The unit is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and comes with a slip-and-assist clutch. The engine and the gear ratios might be tuned to fit the roadster character of the bike.
