Amid the rising Adventure Bike segment in India, another high-capacity bike is going to join the market soon and it’s the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE. Its launch was teased earlier on Social Media via a Suzuki big-bike dealer, which pretty much confirms the bike’s arrival. The V-Strom was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year and brings a lot to the table.
Firstly the bike is powered by Suzuki’s new 776cc, liquid-cooled, 270-crank parallel-twin engine that generates a peak power of 84.3 hp and 78 Nm of peak Torque. As for Specs, the V-Storm 800DE sports the same steel frame as the naked GSX-8S, although its sub-frame has been made tougher and lengthened to support the extra load of a pillion along with luggage much more efficiently. The bike weighs 230 kg, has a sweet 20-litre fuel tank and a tall seat height of 855 mm.
Suspension of the bike is handled by a front fork and a monoshock both adjustable with suspension travel of 220mm, which is also the ground clearance figure. Meanwhile, the braking is handled by a pair of 310mm discs at the front with 4-piston floating callipers and a 260mm disc at the rear with a single-piston calliper. The brakes are supported by dual-channel ABS as standard and if required, the rear ABS can be switched off.
The V-Strom 800DE is also quite feature-packed unlike its simple yet sweet 650XT sibling and includes features expected of a modern ADV tourer such as a bi-directional quick shifter, 4 riding modes, 3 traction control settings, a new 5-inch TFT dash and more. Expect the pricing of the V-Strom 800DE to be around Rs 11 Lakh – Rs 12 Lakh, competing with the Honda Transalp 750 and Triumph Tiger 850 Sport.
