Honda has introduced a new and more affordable ‘Lite’ battery subscription plan with reduced battery rental prices for the Activa e Electric scooter that is tailored specifically for riders with lower usage. The Activa e was launched in India at the Auto Expo back in January 2025.
Honda Activa e Lite plan reduces battery rental prices
Initially, the Activa e had high running costs for an EV, which were almost comparable to those of a 125 cc ICE scooter. This might have been a dealbreaker for some buyers. In response to that issue, Honda has released this new Lite subscription plan that is priced at Rs 678 per month, providing 20 kWh of energy.
The e-scooter continues to be available with the original subscription plans, which are priced at Rs 1,999 (Basic) and Rs 3,999 (Advanced), which provide 35 kWh and 87 kWh of energy, respectively. At the first ride event of Active e, Honda claimed that the Basic plan of 35 kWh could cover a maximum of 40 km per day, so rough calculations (using our brain) indicate that with the Lite plan, riders could cover nearly 23 km a day.
Keep in mind that the bill amount depends on the total amount of energy used in a month, meaning if you exceed the daily limit on a day but manage to stay under it for the next few days, the excess amount will be adjusted against the lower consumption.
Hence, the Lite plan is welcomed to Activa e owners who only use it for shorter distances every day, but other battery-related issues still persist, such as no home-charging facility for the battery pack and a few number of battery-swapping stations across India.
The Activa e is available in two variants – Standard, which is priced at Rs 1.17 Lakh (ex-showroom) and RoadSync Duo, which is priced at Rs 1.52 Lakh (ex-showroom). Both are powered by the same twin 1.5 kWh battery packs with an identical 102 km IDC range (claimed).
Furthermore, Honda has also opened an EV Concept Zone in Bengaluru where the Activa e, QC1, an Electric Racing Go-Kart (eGX) and the cute Moto Compacto are on display.
