TVS Motor Company is all set to launch the new TVS Apache RTR 160 2V and Apache RTR 180 updates in India. The company teased the upcoming updates via its social media handles. Both models are more than a decade old and have only had minimal and emission-compliance-related changes over the years.

TVS has been updating its motorcycle lineup to comply with the latest OBD-2B emission norms, and other updates for the bikes have also been prepared. The Apache RR 310 and Apache RTR 200 4V have been updated in a similar way; the latter has been updated recently with a new 37 mm gold-finish Upside Down (USD) Fork.

The brand has been adding features through minor updates while keeping the engine and underpinnings of the bikes the same since their launch. Despite that, the motorcycles still enjoy strong demand in India.

As for the old Apache Duo of TVS – the 160 2V and 180, both are expected to be updated in a similar manner. It remains to be seen if there will be changes to the OBD2B compliance for these old motors.

For reference, the Apache RTR 160 2V is powered by a 160 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 16 hp at 8,750 RPM and 13.85 Nm of Torque at 7,000 RPM. The Apache 180, on the other hand, is powered by a 177 cc motor that generates 17 hp at 9,000 RPM and 15.5 Nm of Torque at 7,000 RPM.

Currently, the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V retails at Rs 1.21 Lakh – Rs 1.31 Lakh (ex-showroom) while the Apache 180 is available in a single variant only and is priced at Rs 1.35 Lakh (ex-showroom).

Both these bikes may be dated compared to the competition, but they still enjoy quite a strong demand across the country, which is the reason why TVS have not pulled the plug on the bikes yet. What remains to be seen is whether the brand will increase the prices of the bikes with this update.
