Hero finally launched the all-new Xtreme 125R at the Hero World 2024 event, two days after its images were leaked. The 125cc sporty commuter has two variants and both are priced as follows – Rs 95,000 for the IBS (ex-showroom) and Rs 99,500 for the ABS (ex-showroom).
Hero Xtreme 125R – Upcoming Segment Leader?
The design of the Xtreme 125R is quite sporty despite primarily belonging to the commuter segment. Hero’s design department really got it right this time and the bike doesn’t look like an attempt to make a commuter appear sporty thanks to its low-slung LED headlamp, muscular fuel tank with tank extensions and buffed rear section along with split-seat setup.
The overall stance and appearance of the Xtreme 125R overall will low-key remind you of the more powerful and bigger Ducati and Kawasaki naked streetfighters, which is not a bad thing at all.
Apart from this, the bike comes with a 120/80 section tyre, which is the widest in the 125cc commuter segment along with a 276mm disc at the front, which is the largest in the segment along with segment-first single-channel ABS (Top-variant). Lastly, the bike uses a diamond frame, which is suspended by a 37mm telescopic fork at the front which is again the largest in the segment. The rear is handled by a 7-step adjustable monoshock provided by Showa, developed specifically for Xtreme 125R. Hero is really aiming to top the chart this time.
The segment-first saga doesn’t end in specs though. The Xtreme 125R also gets hazard light, which is the first in the segment. Other features include full-LED lighting, a negative LCD instrument cluster that displays fuel level, gear position, speed, tachometer, odometer and trip meters along with Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts. The Bike is available in 3 colours – Cobalt Blue, Firestorm Red and Stallion Black.
Powering the bike is a new 125cc engine which produces 11.45 bhp at 8,250 RPM and 10.5 Nm of Torque at 6000 RPM. The Unit is BS6 2.0 compliant with a claimed fuel efficiency of 66 kmpl.
The Xtreme 125R rivals the TVS Raider and Bajaj Pulsar 125 in terms of pricing and positioning, although it’s yet to see how it performs against the two other sporty commuters. The bike will be available at Hero dealerships across India from February 20.
