Ather 450 Apex has been finally launched in India at a price tag of Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The 450 Apex is said to be the result of the current platform being pushed to the absolute limit, within safe thermodynamics obviously.
Ather 450 Apex – Highlights
The battery pack in the 450 Apex is a 3.7kWh unit which has a claimed IDC range of 157 km, courtesy of the new regenerative braking system. The new system also introduces the “Magic Twist” which lets you slow down the scooter without brakes by twisting the accelerator 15 degrees backward.
The e-scooter gets the Ather’s warp+ mode and when activated the company claims it can go 0 to 40 in just 2.9 seconds and is also claimed to be the only Ather EV that can touch 100 kmph in this Warp+ mode.
The Ather 450 Apex gets a special Indium blue colour for its body panels with transparent panels at the rear that expose the bright orange chassis, which differentiates this from the standard 450. Other than that, since the 450 Apex is based on the 450 platforms, the seat height, tyres, wheelbase, ground clearance and overall design remain the same.
The 450 Apex is almost Rs 21,000 costlier than the top-spec 450X with the 3.7 kWh battery and Pro pack. Interestingly, to justify the high price, Ather co-founder Tarun Mehta states that this scooter is more of a passion project rather than a commercially targeted vehicle, so the production of the Apex will be limited as per demand and the brand plans to manufacture this up to October 2024. This is quite a clever marketing strategy when you think about how much we as humans love to own and use rare objects.
Bookings are now open and the deliveries of the Ather Apex 450 will commence in March 2024. Take a look at how Ather Energy celebrates its 10-year anniversary with the launch of this special limited-edition EV scooter.
