Yamaha decided to turn up the heat in mid-December by launching its popular R3 and MT-03 in India. The launch date is now confirmed to be 15th December and deliveries will begin by the end of the month. Both bikes will be sold through Blue Square dealerships and will be available in over 100 cities.
The Japanese brand has been planning to reintroduce the R3 and bring the MT-03 to the Indian market for quite a while now. The bikes made their intro at the recent MotoGP Bharat and we also got to know their upcoming launch is in December.
After both bikes are launched on December 15, it won’t take long for the deliveries to commence across 100 cities in the country. And the sales of the R3 and MT-03 will be taken care of by the Blue Square dealers across the country.
The MT-03 will be newly introduced in the Indian market but the YZF-R3 is no stranger here. The latter was previously on sale here during the BS4 era. Coming to the technical details, both the bikes are powered by a 321 cc parallel-twin engine which produces 42 hp of power and 29.5 Nm of Torque. The engine is placed inside the same diamond-type frame. The last time R3 made a visit in India, it featured a conventional telescopic fork, but now both the R3 and MT-03 will get an upside-down fork and a monoshock at the back.
As for the pricing, expect both the bikes to sit at the expensive side of their segment due to being brought as CBUs initially, not CKDs. To keep it clear these bikes won’t compete with the KTM 390 Duke (Rs 3.11 lakh) and RC 390 (Rs 3.18 lakh) on the basis of pricing but don’t worry they won’t be as expensive as the Kawasaki Ninja 400 (Rs 5.24 lakh). But only time will tell.
