The Royal Enfield Classic 650 has been spotted during test runs yet again, and it seems the bike is near-production ready. The brand is set to increase its 650cc segment portfolio with this bike and the Shotgun 650, whose details leaked a few days ago.
Royal Enfield Classic 650 – To follow 350’s styling but frame of Super meteor
From the looks of it, the classic 650 will borrow its styling from the classic 350 and that’s actually good, considering the latter has a very sweet and iconic design language with its hood over the headlamp, swooping fenders and pilot lamps. However, the classic 650 will have an LED unit, unlike the halogen unit on the 350.
Also, the classic 650 will solve a problem its lower 350cc sibling has. Although the latter is a very sweet and iconic machine, it lacks the performance and even though it is made to do “phat phat” sound and cruise around the city, still sometimes you get the urge to go fast, right? Well, the larger twin-cylinder classic 650 solves this problem as this particular engine is proven to be very capable and can hold triple digits or higher speeds with much ease, although the solution is quite costly.
Also, the classic 350’s ride quality is one of the highlights since it’s very plush and comfy, so Royal Enfield is expected to continue with the same suspension setups.
Speaking of twin-cylinder, the bike is based on the Super Meteor’s chassis rather than the Interceptor’s since you can see the chassis tube loops around the back of the side panels of the classic 650, just like the Super Meteor.
Royal Enfield Classic 650 – Price and expected launch date
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 will be priced in the range of Rs 3.4 – 3.8 lakhs, meaning it will likely sit between its other 650 siblings, the Interceptor and Super Meteor some accessories were also spotted, meaning those will only increase the price of the motorbike. As for the launch date, no information has been given yet but it’s expected to launch soon since the test mules seem production-ready.
Once launched the bike will compete against its siblings as well as the likes of the Jawa 42 Bobber and the upcoming shotgun 650, but doesn’t seem to have a direct competitor with the same body type.
