Kawasaki has been testing the KLX230 S off-roading motorcycle in India for quite some time now and now some clearer spy images have emerged on the Internet which shows that the model being tested is indeed the 2024 iteration.
Kawasaki KLX230 S Spied – Highlights
Since this is now confirmed to be the 2024 model of the KLX230 S, the features and specs are quite clear now. The US-spec model boasts a seat height of 843 mm with a light weight of 133 kg, although with accessories like a front number plate holder, saree guard and a pillion grab rail which are necessary to make it road-legal for India, the weight will increase to around 140 kg.
The KLX230 S is powered by a 233 cc, air-cooled, 2-valve, single-cylinder engine that produces 20 hp and 20.6 Nm of Torque. Do note that these output figures are for the off-road-only version of this bike, the KLX 230R S, which Kawasaki actually sells in India and the brand is yet to provide the official power and torque figures for the bike. Expect it to be equal to or less than the figures mentioned due to the emission norms in India.
In this case, the output will be a bit higher than the Hero Xpulse 200 4V, which churns out 19.2 hp and 17.35 Nm. Although the test mule in the spy photos appears to be production-ready, the launch will take some time as Kawasaki India needs to sort out its production facilities and supply chain to fit in an extra model, alongside the Ninja 300 and the W175.
