Mercedes-Benz has revealed the EQS facelift, and the sedan now gets updated styling and more driving range. The 2024 year update also added some new features and improved the rear seat comfort too.
Design-wise, while the overall silhouette remains the same, Mercedes has added some chrome bits to the grille making it similar to the S-Class. Moreover, the EQS also gets the ‘star” hoof ornament which is basically a shoutout to the design of the ICE flagship.
Now if you elect the optional Extended Rear Luxury Lounge Pack along with the EQS, it will offer a special slanted footrest at the rear to enhance the comfort of the rear occupants. To improve it even further, the front passenger seat can be folded forward while the backrest in the back can be adjusted up to 38 degrees. Mercedes further states that the rear seats get 5 mm more foam in the backrest. The optional pack also includes features such as seat heating, neck and shoulder heating at the rear as well as pneumatic adjustment of the seat depth.
Furthermore, the MBUX Hyperscreen is now a standard offering on the EQS with new additions such as Dolby Atmos, a digital travel guide and a YouTube Web app.
Apart from the design and features, the battery capacity of the EQS has also changed. It has now been increased from 108.4 kWh to 118 kWh, enhancing the driving range by about 82 km. To better understand this, the India-spec EQS has a range of 857 km which could potentially exceed the 900 km mark with the bigger battery pack.
The EQS facelift could come to India this year as part of the brand’s plan to launch 9 new cars in our market by the end of 2024. The ongoing pre-facelift EQS is currently priced at Rs 1.62 crore (ex-showroom, India), but expect a slight increase in price after the facelift arrives. The sedan will continue to lock horns with the Porsche Taycan and BMW i7.
