Yamaha has officially revealed the refreshed all-new TMAX560 in Japan on February 29th in two variants – TMAX560 and TMAX560 Tech Max. Both variants have the same specs and powertrain, but there’s a bit difference in features. While the TMAX560 starts at RM 75K (Rs 13 Lakh, ex-showroom) in Malaysia, it costs JPY 1,408,000 (Rs 7.75 Lakh) in Japan.
Yamaha TMAX560 Debuts – Highlights
The TMAX560 is not to be taken lightly by any means, after all, it is Yamaha’s flagship scooter and holds quite a commanding road presence that puts a lot of bikes to shame. It sports an aggressive front fascia, full LED lighting, a tall transparent windscreen, gold USD telescopic front forks and mono-shock rear suspension.
The ergonomics are quite comfortable with ample space for both rider and pillion. The scooter also sports dual discs at the front and a single rear disc at the rear which are supported by dual-channel ABS.
The scooter also gets quite some updates in features including the new 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, electrically operated windscreen, heated seats, Garmin Navigation, heated grips, cruise control and more. The under-seat storage is also large along with a 15L fuel tank and weighs 220 kg.
The scooter is available in 3 shades – Matte Black with Racing Blue wheels, Matte Dark Reddish Grey (Tech Max), and Matte Dark Grey (Tech Max) in Japan, while in Malaysia the TMAX560 is offered in 2 paint jobs – Dark Magma and Tech Black Shades.
Powering the TMAX560 is its 560cc DOHC 4V Parallel-twin-cylinder engine that produces 47.6 bhp and 55.7 Nm. This unit is paired with a CVT and belt-drive system, so yeah it packs quite the punch.
Now, the launch of the 2024 Yamaha TMAX560 holds a lot of significance for the Indian market, since a test mule has been spotted in India and this raises hopes that Yamaha is planning to bring their flagship maxiscooter to India.
The chances are quite high since keeping aside the recent sightings of the TMAX test mule, the market for premium and large-capacity scooters is rapidly growing in India, opening a chance for brands like Yamaha to dominate the segment with scooters like TMAX, just like they did in the lower 150cc segment with the Aerox 155.
Currently in India, we have 278.2cc scooters from Keeway which are priced around Rs 3.3 lakh and on the other hand lies the BMW C400GT with its 350cc engine which comes with an expensive price tag of Rs 11.25 lakh. So, there’s plenty of field for a market favourite brand like Yamaha to enter and gain success.
