Before you shortlist any Venue variant in Delhi, understand the tax asymmetry. The same move from petrol to diesel that costs ₹2.5-3 Lakh in ex-showroom difference gets amplified by roughly ₹15,000-25,000 in road tax because Delhi taxes diesel vehicles at higher rates. The 1.5 CRDi AT HX10 DT at ₹18.85 Lakh on-road includes 12.5% road tax compared to 10% for a similarly-priced petrol variant. This diesel penalty is unique to Delhi among major cities.

Two distinct markets exist within Delhi's Venue buyers. South and Central Delhi professionals, from corporate executives to consultants, overwhelmingly buy petrol variants. They drive 8,000-12,000 km annually, primarily within NCR, and can't justify diesel's economics at these volumes. The petrol turbo-DCT variants at ₹11-14 Lakh capture this segment. Outer Delhi and NCR commuters, particularly those driving the Noida-Delhi-Gurgaon triangle daily, sometimes consider diesel despite the tax penalty because their kilometers compound quickly. But many still opt for petrol DCT and absorb the marginally higher fuel costs rather than pay Delhi's diesel road tax premium.

Delhi's road tax structure operates on three tiers for each fuel type. Petrol: 4% up to ₹6 Lakh ex-showroom, 7% for ₹6-10 Lakh, and 10% above ₹10 Lakh. Diesel: 5% up to ₹6 Lakh, 8.75% for ₹6-10 Lakh, and 12.5% above ₹10 Lakh. Every Venue diesel variant crosses ₹10 Lakh ex-showroom, triggering the highest diesel slab. The base petrol at ₹7.99 Lakh ex-showroom attracts 7% tax, while even mid-spec diesels pay 12.5%.

Fixed charges add up: ₹1,200 registration, ₹1,100 HSRP, ₹200 smart card. Insurance follows Metro Zone A rates, the highest in India, pushing comprehensive premiums 15-20% above what buyers in Tier-2 cities pay. TCS at 1% applies to variants above ₹10 Lakh ex-showroom. Combined, these factors make Delhi one of the more expensive cities to buy the Venue despite having lower base road tax rates than AP or Maharashtra.

The ₹9.74 Lakh gap from base (₹9.11 Lakh) to top (₹18.85 Lakh) reflects both feature differences and compounding tax impacts. The base HX2 petrol at 7% road tax offers strong value. Cross into diesel territory and you're paying 12.5% on a larger ex-showroom base. This math makes the diesel automatic a poor value proposition in Delhi unless you're genuinely driving 2,000+ km monthly.

Service infrastructure in Delhi is excellent. Multiple Hyundai touchpoints across South, West, and NCR areas ensure same-week appointments even during busy periods. Parts availability is never an issue. The challenge is traffic: factor in 2-3 hours for any service visit including travel time to and from the workshop.
