Jeep is reportedly planning to launch a new car to compete in the current Compact SUV segment and this SUV will likely be based on the same CMP platform which underpins the Citroen C3 Aircross.

Jeep C-SUV to be based on C3 Aircross – But Why?

This year is definitely full of unexpected collaborations. However, while this news might come as a shocker to many people, it is important to note that Jeep and Citroen are technically siblings since both brands are under the same international conglomerate, Stellantis.

The compact SUV segment is booming right now with neck-to-neck competition between brands. Currently, there are 9 contenders, with Tata Curvv being the 10th entry soon and the 11th would be Jeep if they go ahead with the plan.

Citroen C3 Aircross being decorated as a Jeep Would prove beneficial to the brand in increasing sales and goodwill. Another advantage is that Citroen’s CMP skateboard is cost-efficient and tried and tested.

However, despite being based on the C3 Aircross, the upcoming C-SUV will sport Jeep’s Design and Concept. Expect an all-new premium-quality cabin and a new set of features. The styling is expected to be similar to the Jeep Avenger, although in size the SUV will likely be either similar to the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder or VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. It might as well be similar to Creta in size, becoming a proper rival.

Features might include a panoramic sunroof, large infotainment and driver’s display, cruise control, auto climate control, 17-inch wheels and more features to rival the other contenders. Other premium features like ADAS are also expected which is plausible since Creta has it, although there’s a high chance that despite being a Jeep, this C-SUV will only get FWD and one powertrain option.

On that note, powering the new Jeep SUV might be the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine as Citroen C3 Aircross that generates 110 PS of power and 190 Nm of Torque with 6-speed manual transmission and 205 Nm with 6-speed Aisin-sourced AT.
