The new 9th Generation Toyota Camry will be unwrapped tomorrow at the 2023 LA Auto Show Tomorrow and with some teaser images, it’s now confirmed that the new Camry will be a hybrid electric and will also get AWD for the global markets.
The new Camry will be underpinned by Toyota’s new TNGA-K platform but will likely continue with the 2.5-litre 4-cylinder hybrid engine. The engine is plenty powerful and currently churns out 176 hp of power and 221 Nm of Torque from the ICE motor and 199 hp and 202 Nm of torque from the electric motors and the whole setup is paired with a CVT-powered front wheels.
The new hybrid version will also likely come with some new tech such as HUD, ADAS, new driver safety packages and a bigger touchscreen infotainment system. Considering the rising demand and growth of the SUV segment in the world, the Camry stands its ground and is still a popular choice in Europe and America thanks to its reliability, comfortable and spacious interiors and handling.
Toyota Camry India launch
Now in India, the 8th generation Camry is of course not the record breaker for Toyota with a consistent yet low sales of 150-200 units per month, and looking at the numbers if the new generation does come here, it will do well. The price will be somewhere in the range of Rs 55 lakh, which is actually the reason why Toyota Camry sales figures are relatively low in India compared to foreign markets.
The Camry doesn’t simply hold that snob value or the brand value for a 50+ lakh sedan in the eyes of an Indian buyer when brands like Audi and BMW offer cars in this range. Nonetheless, the Camry is an amazing and beautiful sedan which guarantees reliability and value for your money.
