Mahindra Thar 5-door Spied Again – To launch soon

The range of the Thar was expanded by the addition of the 2WD version last year and this 5-door will be more premium than the ongoing 3-door model. The 5-door Mahindra Thar 5-door has been caught time and time again on public roads and even with the Jeep Wrangler once, where the former off-roader test mule was dwarfing the latter.

It is also rumoured that the upcoming Thar SUV will be called The Thar Armada, given the brand trademarked the name Armada along with 6 more names, and the Armada also used to be an SUV offered by the brand many years ago. The upcoming off-roader will have larger proportions and two additional doors giving it a more spacious cabin. Moreover, the addition of new features is also expected.

Speaking of the cabin, the upcoming 5-door Thar Armada will be getting a two-tone themed interior in the high-spec trims along with an updated and larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The infotainment is also expected to be borrowed by other Mahindra models such as the 2024 XUV300 facelift and XUV400.

Apart from the infotainment system, the digital instrument cluster is possibly the same unit seen in the XUV700. Other features include Rear AC vents, an electric sunroof, push start/stop and much more, which will be revealed at a later date. As for the safety department, disc brakes on all 4 wheels and six airbags take care of it along with other features.

The Mahindra Thar 5-door will be built on a body-on-frame chassis and the suspension setup will be the same one that is used by the Scorpio N. Powering the Thar 5-door will be the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and 2.0L mStallion Petrol engines which are used to power the existing 3-door Thar. The units are paired with 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT transmission options. Expect the Mahindra THar 5-door variant to carry a starting price tag of over Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), once launched.
