The revelation this time are the individual armrests for the front as well as 2nd row AC vents, which are missing from the regular 3-door Thar. The test mule also comes fitted with dummy seats at the rear, however it remains to be seen whether this will be offered as a regular bench seat or 2 individual seats as the regular Thar.

The biggest update the 5-door Thar’s interior will get is a larger touchscreen with improved UI and graphics. This will necessitate a redesign of the dashboard, however, the HVAC controls, AC vents and toggle switches remain unchanged as seen in the images along with the physical buttons and rotary dial.

THAR INTERIOR FEATURES

Other than that, the 5-door Thar could also feature an improved instrument cluster with a larger MID, a dashboard Camera, as well as a single-pane sunroof. Also, the 7-inch screen on the 3-door Thar has been criticized for being small and having mediocre UI, It is possible the regular Thar will be added to the Thar 3-door in the future.

Also, Mahindra will be targeting SUV buyers who want a practical yet capable off-roading machine. Therefore, the features list might as well be longer and more creature comforts will be added to sufficiently differentiate it from the regular Thar. The test mules for now also hinted towards an altered design to differentiate it from its 3-door brother.

The Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to retain the current 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel mills, mated to the same 6-speed auto and manual transmissions. The off-road hardware will also be retained but the longer wheelbase and additional weight calls for changes to the suspension setup. The Mahindra Thar 5-door will likely debut sometime around mid-2024 and for now, has 7 names trademarked for it.
