Tata Curvv Launch Delayed to Festive Season

Tata Curvv is one of the most awaited cars from Tata Motors that was supposed to go live by the 1st half of 2024. But the launch of the Coupe SUV seems to be delayed for a few months. The Tata Curvv will launch in its EV form first, followed by the petrol and diesel variants.

Tata Curvv Launch Delayed – EV first, followed by ICE Models

Tata Motors supposedly started production of the Curvv EV in the 1st quarter of CY2024, with a launch scheduled for mid-2024. However, as the production timeline has now been pushed back to June, the car will likely hit the roads this festive season. The petrol and diesel variants are expected to enter production around September and launch either by the end of this year or early 2025.

Tata Motors has opted to go ahead with the EV Curvv to gain a 1st mover advantage in the midsize SUV space similar to what the brand has done with Nexon EV and Punch EV. The delay is likely due to the nation’s ongoing elections which usually slow down sales. The company as a result wants to stabilize the production and deliveries of the existing models before entering an all-new segment.

Earlier this year, Tata revealed a near-production version of the Curvv at the Bharat Mobility Show 2024 which is based on the Nexon and carries a similar design language with the electric versions having their own EV-specific styling.

Regarding the powertrain, the new Tata Curvv will be powered by the brand’s new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 125 hp. This motor will be paired with both manual and automatic transmissions. Meanwhile, the diesel variant will use Nexon’s 1.2-litre 4-cylinder motor making it the 3rd diesel product in the midsize SUV segment. As for the EV, it will utilize Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev architecture which will likely have 450-500 km range.
