The new-gen Swift has been spotted in India during its test runs and though it will look similar to the one sold globally, the hatch will get some specific changes. The India-spec Maruti Swift will get slightly tweaked front and rear bumpers, but the changes will be minor with no contrast black elements and a slightly larger number plate housing. The alloy wheel design is also similar to the international variant, but the lower specs will get a unique wheel design.

Unfortunately, the India-spec Swift will not get either a 360-degree camera or the ADAS, which is seen on the models sold in foreign markets.

Coming to the powertrain, the K-series 1,2-litre, 4-cylinder powertrain that has been powering the Swift will now be replaced by the new Z series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine that also made its debut with Swift in Japan last year. This engine will also get some India-specific changes with a main focus on emissions, output and efficiency. The new Z-series Swift will be more or less similar to the current K12 engine and is expected to sport a mild-hybrid technology. Although, there’s no information regarding transmission options yet, but expect Maruti to retain the 5-speed Manual and AMT gearboxes.
