Porsche has revealed the 2024 Taycan Facelift and this is the first time the sportscar gets a facelift since it went into production in 2019. What makes this facelift more special is the fact that rather than focusing more on huge cosmetic changes, the Taycan gets a load of electrical upgrades, making it the fastest road-driven Porsche ever.
Porsche Taycan Facelift – Highlights
Starting with the main highlights of the facelift, which are the upgrades in both the specifications and powertrains, Porsche hasn’t revealed detailed info on the specs of the variants yet, however, every single model is now powerful and faster. One key update is the updated rear axle motor, which now generates up to 109 hp more than before, depending on the variant. The efficiency and power are further enhanced by making the motors lighter and some internal revisions.
The Updated Taycan now produces 952 hp when using launch control in its top Turbo S variant, which is a significant up from the current model’s 761 hp output. This makes the Taycan the most powerful Porsche ever, overthrowing the 887 hp 918 Spyder hypercar. The new Taycan is capable of going 0-100 kmph in just 2.4 seconds, also making it the fastest accelerating Porsche ever.
Interestingly it’s the base RWD model of the Taycan that gets the biggest leap in terms of performance upgrade. It produces 483 hp now compared to 326 hp of the current model and can go from 0-100 kmph in 4,5 seconds, which is an improvement by 0.6 seconds from the outgoing model. Apart from this, the variants with the Sport Chrono Package get a “push to pass” button that offers a temporary boost of 95 hp for 10 seconds max at a time (Mini-Nitro).
Aside from performance upgrades, the Taycan facelift has also got improved battery and range. The gross capacity for the larger Performance Battery Plus has improved from 93.4 kWh to 105 kWh, thanks to the new battery with revised cell chemistry. The 800V architecture will also be able to recuperate energy at up to 320 kW, up by 50 while the base variants get their battery upgraded to 89 kWh from 79.21 kWh.
The Charging of the Taycan has also been improved. It takes as little as 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent along with energy regeneration abilities under braking which can recuperate energy at speeds of 400 kW.
Last but also least, the design of the Taycan Facelift, has gone through very few changes such as new LED headlamps that get HD-Matrix with detailed optics and slightly redesigned bumpers along with new air vents. There are also new colours on offer with all models getting new aero-optimised wheels and resigned tires for reduced rolling resistance.
On the inside, Porsche now offers two new leather-free upholstery options alongside software updates for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system.
