The range itself is straightforward once you group it. Four petrol manuals run from the Sigma MT through Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Three AGS automatics, Maruti's clutchless setup, come in Delta, Zeta and Alpha forms. Two factory CNG cars round it off, Delta CNG and Zeta CNG MT, both manual. For the AGS case, the numbers are friendly. The clutchless gearbox costs about ₹54,600 on-road over the matching manual trim, which is roughly ₹910 a month on a 60-month loan with 20% down at around 9.25%; your bank will quote a bit differently. For a left-leg that's otherwise working the clutch all the way over the bridge, that's a small premium. The Delta AGS at ₹8,29,122 is the most affordable way into the automatic, while the Zeta AGS at ₹9,27,380 adds the bigger touchscreen, wireless phone mirroring and rear AC vents that make the crawl more bearable.

On the breakup, note that Howrah is a Zone A metro for insurance, so the premium runs a little higher than in up-state towns: about ₹35,019 on the Sigma MT against the roughly ₹34,415 a Zone B buyer sees. West Bengal's road tax is a one-time lifetime charge folded into the price, around ₹50,440 on the base car, with no renewal to budget later.

One audit tip that matters more in a Zone A city: scrutinise the insurance line. It's the biggest soft number on the quote and the easiest to pad. Ask the dealer to break out the OD premium and any add-ons, then put one outside quote next to it before you sign. The registration, HSRP and smart-card lines are fixed and small, so those should match cent for cent.

The straight answer for Howrah: if your daily route includes the bridge and the older lanes, spend the ₹54,600 on AGS. Delta AGS if you're watching the budget, Zeta AGS if you want the comfort kit for the time you'll spend sitting in traffic.
