Maruti Fronx is the latest crossover SUV based on the premium hatch Baleno and this SUV is the perfect balance of great design, reliability, mileage and fuel efficiency and also has a peppy engine. And yes this engine also produces enough power to make this the quickest car under 10 lakh with the Maruti Fronx Turbo Petrol MT variant capable of doing the 0-100 kmph run in 10.38 seconds. The number might not seem impressive but judging from its price and other competitors, it is.
Citroen C3
Next up on this list, we have the Citroen C3 which goes 0-100 kmph in 14.32 seconds with its 82 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine and you might wonder why we put this in the second spot despite being much slower than the ones below it. Interestingly, there’s also a Turbo Petrol variant of C3 that’s way faster and can do the same 0-100 run in 10.72 seconds which puts it on par with the Fronx, the latter being on seconds faster.
Renault Kiger (Turbo-Petrol MT)
The Kiger comes third and despite having a turbo-petrol engine under the 10 lakh budget, it’s still notably slower than the Fronx and reaches 100 kmph in 11.01 seconds. But it’s still quick in its own right and comes with decent specs with a 4-star Global NCAP rating.
Maruti Alto K10 (MT)
The mini hatchback Lord Alto K10 comes fourth and completes the 0-100 sprint in 12.77 seconds, which is significantly slower than the Kiger by a whole 1 second. Despite that, the Alto K10 is one of the quickest under 10 lakh, thanks to its light body which compensates for its small 67 PS engine and is also the most affordable and easy-to-maintain car on this list.
Tata Tiago EV
Tata Tiago EV is capable of going 0-100 kmph in 13.5 seconds which makes it the fifth quickest car on this list. Interestingly, this is also the only Electric Vehicle on the list and also the quickest EV under Rs 10 lakh. The Tiago brings the perfect blend of performance, design and safety, and given its an EV it is a solid choice for those looking to buy an electric car under budget.
Toyota Glanza
Earlier the Glanza also made it on our list of cars under 10 lakh with 6 airbags, along with the Fronx and this time it takes the last spot among the quickest cars under 10 lakh with its 1.2-litre Naturally aspirated Petrol engine, which also powers the lower trims of the Maruti Fronx. The Glanza can finish the 0-100 kmph run in 13.54 seconds.
