Suzuki recently released a special Heritage Edition for the Suzuki Jimny 5-door in Australia that’s limited to only 500 units. According to the brand, the Jimny Heritage pays tribute to the SUV’s vast history from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
The Jimny 5-door which is actually sold as Jimny XL in Australia has now received the heritage edition which the 3-door Jimny already got last Match. New elements in this special edition include special decals with the Heritage logo, a unique cargo tray and red mud flaps. The colour schemes available for the Jimny XL Heritage are – White, Jungle Green, Bluish Black Pearl, Granite Grey Metallic and Chiffon Ivory with Bluish Black Pearl roof.
The Jimny XL is actually made in India and exported to Australia, thus featuring the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine as the Indian model with some tweaks to generate 100 hp and 130 Nm, 5 hp and 4 Nm less than the India-spec. The Heritage edition gets a sole 5-speed manual transmission although the SUV also gets a 4-speed torque converter automatic.
As for features, the Jimny XL also gets features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, auto climate control, 6 airbags, LED headlamps and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, the Jimny XL unlike the India-spec also gets an ADAS suite with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) as standard to pass the local safety norms.
