Suzuki is going to bring the eWX concept to the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show 2023. The concept will be brought into the spotlight alongside the eVX EV SUV and the 2024 Swift, the latter was teased recently. And unlike the eVX, the eWX concept is a tiny urban EV hatchback which the brand claims is a practical mini wagon.
Suzuki eWX concept – Futuristic but familiar EV
This concept is targeted towards the Kei car buyers, you will realize it if you see its compact measurement. Also, even though it’s futuristic, the boxy design will certainly remind you of our very own tall boy the Wagon R.
But this EV being a concept gets a lot of design cues that are only for display and will be used as an inspiration for production cars. The front is flat with C-shaped headlights and the wheel covers have a funky “plus” look with florescent elements. The boxy look is completed with a C-shaped tail lamp and a flat tailgate similar to the front. (People call the 800 “matchbox” but now boxy Kei cars are the future)
Speaking of design, the eWX concept will have a length of 3,395 mm, a width of 1,475 mm and a height of 1,620 mm.
Inside, the car looks like a cute, fun and minimalistic car with a florescent and black finish, a rotary controller on the centre console, vertical AC vents, feature buttons just below the dash and a wide screen that is equipped with both the infotainment system and digital driver’s display. The steering wheel is a 2-spoke flat-bottomed unit. Also, you can see a picture holder or something similar along with a “plus-shaped hanger”. (The dog looks like a good boi)
The powertrain details have not been shared yet but expect a single-motor setup. But one thing which is shared by Suzuki is that the hatchback concept can deliver a 230 km driving range, which is quite good.
Suzuki eWX concept – India launch
Will the eWX come to India? No or at least not anytime soon, considering it’s a Kei car concept designed for the Japanese market. But it might launch in the Indian market since Maruti Suzuki is already developing their EV SUV which is likely the production-spec eVX concept, that will take on the likes of Creta and similar-sized SUVs in that segment.
