New-Gen MG HS Revealed in UK
The new-gen MG HS gets two powertrain options – the standard petrol engine has been tweaked to generate 170 hp and the PHEV’s output has been changed quite a lot. The electric motor now produces 209 hp compared to the 123 hp earlier and the overall combined output is almost 300 hp.
Design-wise, the new HS is 26 mm longer and 14 mm wider than the 1st-gen model with 30 mm of extra space (2,750 mm wheelbase). The roofline is much more sleeker now, bringing the total height down by 30 mm and the more stylish silhouette is a plus.
Inside, the new-gen HS sports an all-black theme with contrasting red stitching on the seats and dashboard. All the variants will also get a comprehensive standard kit which includes keyless entry, a rear parking camera and a 6-way adjustable driver’s seat. Furthermore, the HS also sports a pair of 12.3-inch screens with smartphone mirroring, better quality materials and switchgear and more space. The boot is now at 507 litres (44 litres bigger).
The battery has been further upsized to 24.7 kWh for a claimed EV range of around 120 km, meaning the HS PHEV now gets a BIK tax rate of only 5% alongside higher fuel savings, the official mileage figures are yet to be revealed.
MG Motor India is expected to launch the new Cloud EV and Gloster Facelift here and although it is not confirmed yet, we might as well see the new-gen HS being one of the models coming to our shores.
