The Maruti Dzire, which is quite an iconic car in India last received its generational update nearly 7 years ago and this year, the sedan will get its due generational update which is based on the all-new Swift. Now, this Compact sedan will get a refreshed design from both inside and out along with a few segment-first features. The car will also sport the all-new Z Series engine as well similar to the Swift.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire – Similar Yet Different From Swift
The Dzire however will supposedly get different elements from its hatchback counterpart. Now Swift is a very popular model globally and recently debuted in Tokyo. But the Dzire is specifically made for the Indian market to fit the sub-4m segment in order to get small car tax benefits. This is why the global debut will also happen here.
While the India-spec Swift will have a bit different styling than the global-spec model, the Dzire will likely be differentiated further. Apart from the completely new rear section ( because its a sedan), the Dzire is also expected to sport unique bumpers, alloy wheels and even a different set of headlamps. This is not a shocking detail, since Maruti has tried to differentiate the styling between the two models more and more with each update.
Apart from design, the Dzire will also likely get some additional features such as a segment-first single-pane sunroof and a 360-degree camera as well.
Powering the new Dzire will be the new Z series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine same as the Swift which will get some India-specific tweaks with emission norms, efficiency and output in mind. The unit will likely get the 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes.
Launch of the Dzire is expected after 3-6 months after Swift and after launch, the sedan will continue to lock horns with the Tata Tigor and Hyundai Aura.
