Skoda has announced the Epiq, a new fully electric Sub-Compact SUV, which Skoda calls a “Design Study” rather than a Concept. However, it looks near production-ready to us which is currently posing in front of cameras for advertising.
Dubbed “small but epic”, Skdoa Epiq is the first vehicle from the brand to feature its new styling and is slightly different from what Skoda teased at the recent event. The starting price of the vehicle is targeted to be EUR 25,000 which equals Rs 22.5 Lakh.
The modern design of the SUV really looks good and unique. The sleek LED DRLs on the front along with fang-like vertically arranged LEDs give it a very menacing look. Headlights are below the vertical LEDs.
Skoda’s signature grille is still there but looks a lot sleeker with a lower bumper having 8 vertical openings with an interesting direction. The side profile is also strong with an upright C-pillar. Door handles are conventional and the car comes fitted with unique aero wheels. Black body cladding and floating roof effect are key components.
Tail lights are T-shaped LED signatures and the same 8 vertical openings can be seen in the rear bumper too. The Skoda Lettering red sits on the neatly sculpted tailgate with chunky roof rails and glass roof as other notable highlights.
Talking about the Specs, Skoda Epiq is a 4.1 m long e-SUV that is basically the all-electric version of the Kamiq. Being a born EV, the Epiq is better space-optimized by OEMs and sports a 490L boot space.
Powertrain-wise, the Epiq will be based on the MEB Entry platform, so an FWD drivetrain is very much possible with the vehicle. However, the battery size is unknown and the WLTP range could be around 400 km – 450 km. The EV SUV is expected to debut in 2025 and whether or not it remains our shores still remains a question.
