Maruti Brezza recently crossed the 10 lakh or 1 million unit sales mark in India, nearly 8 months after it recorded a total sales of 9 lakh units. To hit and run across this record, it took the Brezza nearly 7 years and 8 months or 94 months from its launch as Vitara Brezza from March 2016 to December 2023.
Maruti Brezza crosses a million in sales
Maruti Brezza is estimated to have sold 996,608 units from March 2016 to November 2023 and hit the million mark in early December. What’s interesting is that, in this year itself, the Compact SUV has sold 1,11,371 units from April to November with an average monthly sales of 13,921 units or a whopping 497 units per day.
If Brezza maintains this figure in the remaining 4 months of FY2024, it could reach sales of up to 1,67,055 units, the highest for this car since FY2019. A driving factor that pushed the sales further is the launch of the new CNG variant in March 2023, after Brezza lost the batter against arch-rival (I prefer “frenemy”) Tata Nexon, which has been India’s best-seller in both FY2022 and FY2023.
If we go by Brezza’s sales in the first 8 months of FY2024, this SUV is the best-selling SUV in the country for now with a lead of 593 units ahead of Tata Nexon which has sold approx 1,10,778 units. Only two other SUVs have managed to cross the 1,00,000 units mark in the April to November period – Tata Punch (1,02,326) and Hyundai Creta (1,08,584).
Maruti Suzuki currently is the leading carmaker across all the segments with a 43% market share and continues to grow rapidly.
