Mahindra is all set to launch the XUV300 Facelift in India in the coming weeks as it is currently undergoing its final tests. This updated XUV300 will be the brand’s second attempt to compete in the highly demanded and competitive Compact SUV segment which includes famous contenders like the Sonet, Venue, Brezza and Nexon.
XUV300 Facelift Enters Final Testings
The Facelifted XUV300 will get a major overhaul in terms of design to stay relevant compared to its rivals who have received their share of updates like Nexon, Sonet and Venue. As seen in the spy shots, the SUV will get a more angular nose along with newly designed drop-down LED DRLs and headlights. It will also get a refreshed bumper and will now feature a new two-part grille with a large central air intake.
Coming to the back, the updated SUV now gets an all-new tailgate design with a full-width LED light bar. The back design is further refreshed with the new sleeker C-shaped tail lamps. The registration plate’s position also goes lower from the tailgate to the bumper.
The side profile however will likely retain the same design except for the new design for alloy wheels. Although camouflaged, it’s evident that the XUV300 Facelift’s styling has been somewhat borrowed from Mahindra’s BE range of SUVs, which are scheduled for launch in 2025.
Once you hop into the XUV300 facelift’s cabin, expect to see some new design elements and features which are borrowed from the newly updated XUV400 EV. The dashboard has been revised and houses twin 10.25-inch displays along with other features such as rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera, cooled seats and other new features which are also added on the 2024 XUV400 will also likely make an appearance on the new XUV300.
Powering will the new XUV300 will be the same engine options as the existing ones which are the 1.2-litre turbo petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol. The facelift also introduces an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission with the most powerful 131 hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mill. The same unit is also used in the Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Slavia, VW Taigun and VW Virtus. The other two engines will carry on with the 6-speed manual and AT options. All the units have already received emission-related upgrades for the BS6 Stage II norms.
The XUV300 facelift will also get an EV powertrain option soon that will be placed below the XUV400 EV and will rival the Nexon EV, similar to their ICE counterparts. The EV SUV will on sale by June 2024.
