There’s been quite a buzz recently with Ford Motors making a comeback in India since the US Giant has filed a few design patents along with its two global models spotted on Indian roads. Moreover, the brand also cancelled its plans to sell its Tamil Nadu Plant to the JSW Group. Although the brand hasn’t made any official announcement yet, these highly indicate the brand’s comeback in India and these are the 5 cars that the brand might be introducing in the market in the coming years.
Ford Endeavour
Ford Endeavour is one of the most awaited models in India. The SUV was one of the best-selling models in the market and has been a dream car of many. With Ford Everest (Global name of Endeavour) spotted on Indian roads earlier, enthusiasts and fans hope for the SUV to relaunch in the country. In fact the Endeavour/Everest is dubbed as the Fortuner killer and remains to be seen whether it can dethrone the current segment bestseller upon its launch.
Powering the Everest that was spotted in India is either a 2.0-litre turbo diesel or a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine. These units generate 168 bhp/ 405 Nm and 208 bhp/500 Nm respectively. The former uses a 6-speed automatic transmission while the latter gets a 10-speed AT and Ford offers SelectShift and both the 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrains with the transmissions.
Ford Bronco
Bronco has a very solid chance if Ford returns to India and wants to take on the likes of some best-sellers like Mahindra Thar or Maruti Suzuki Jimny. Ford launched the Bronco SUV back in 2021 with both 2-door and 4-door 4X4 options and the design is quite rugged and retro.
As for powertrains, the Bronco is powered by a 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 Petrol engineer which produces 310 hp and 542 Nm of Torque. It also comes with a 2.3-litre EcoBoost 4-cylinder unit that produces 270 hp of power and 420 Nm of Torque.
Ford Ranger
The Ford Ranger Pickup Truck is another model that was spotted alongside the Everest SUV on Indian roads. The Ranger is one of the smallest pickups sold by Ford globally, however, it could rival the likes of Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hilux.
The Ranger gets 3 engine options to choose from – A 2.3-litre EcoBoost, a 2.7-litre EcoBoost and a 3.0-litre EcoBoost. The first mill generates 266 bhp/ 420 Nm, while the 3.0-litre produces 399 bhp and 583 Nm. The 2.7-litre has not gone live yet, although Ford said that the targeted figures are 310 bhp/ 542 Nm.
Ford Mustang Mach-E
The Mustang could come to India in its new electric form once Ford makes a comeback, which is possible because the Mustang used to be on sale here prior to Ford wrapping up their business in India. The Mach-E which was trademarked in India recently comes equipped with 2 battery choices – a 72 kWh and a 91 kWh unit. The driving range of the EV is around 502 km.
Ford F-150 Lightning
Since the EV segment is growing in India, Ford might be able to grab the first mover advantage and bring the F-150 Lightning as the first electric pickup in India. This EV was launched in the US back in 2022 and is one of the most popular electric pickup trucks in the US.
The F-150 comes with dual electric motors, one on each axle and can generate 563 hp and a massive 1,050 Nm of Torque. The Pickup can go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds and has a range of 482 km on a single charge. The towing capacity of the F-150 lighting, which is a key characteristic of a pickup truck is 4.53 tonnes.
