Toyota is all set to launch 3 new SUVs in India within the next 18 months, that is, by mid-2025. The Taisor which is Toyota’s version of Fronx will launch sometime this year, while a 3-row Hyryder-based SUV will be introduced sometime in 2025. There’s also a Corolla Cross-based SUV currently in development.
3 New SUVs by Toyota – Here’s what we know for now
Toyota is preparing a new SUV based on the Corolla Cross SUV for 2025, which will be built at a new facility. This new SUV will built on the popular TNGA-C platform similar to the Innova Hycross. As a result, this SUV will be positioned above the 3-row Hyryder.
The 3-row Hyryder SUV will also share a production setup with the standard Hyryder SUV and its twin brother, the Grand Vitara. Maruti Suzuki is also currently working on a 3-row Grand Vitara that will also launch sometime in 2025. The 3-row Hyryder will be based on this 3-row Grand Vitara and will be built and supplied by Maruti Suzuki to Toyota. This is the exact opposite, since right now the 2-row versions of the SUV are built by Toyota and supplied to Maruti.
The upcoming 3-row Hyryder will likely have a similar wheelbase as the outgoing model, although the rear overhang will be slightly longer to accommodate the 3rd Row. This SUV will sit alongside the Innova Hycross and compete with the likes of Safari and XUV700.
Currently, Toyota has a vast list of models on offer in India such as Rumion, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Glanza, Fortuner and Vellfire. So, the 3-row Hyryder, Corolla Cross-based SUV and rebadged Fronx will not only expand the Toyota lineup, but it will be quite refreshing to see new Toyota vehicles in the Indian market. Apart from these 3 mentioned cars, Toyota is also set to bring its first-born EV to India, in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki by 2025.
