A teaser of the upcoming Tata Altroz Racer has been released by Tata Motors ahead of its launch next month. This is a sportier version of the brand’s premium hatchback and will sport unique exterior styling, more features and most importantly, a more powerful engine than the standard Altroz.
Tata Altroz Racer Teased – Highlights
The teaser confirms the new and unique orange & black dual-tone exterior finish of the Altroz Racer. The black won’t just be in the roof, window line and wing mirrors, but will also cover the pillars. However, the 16-inch alloys remain the same as the standard Altroz.
Spy shots earlier also revealed that the Altroz Racer will get white racing stripes on the bonnet just like it was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. The model will also likely get “Racer” badges and a refreshed grille.
Inside, the Altroz Racer is expected to get some cosmetic changes that complement its sporty exterior such as the new upholstery and new highlights on the dashboard. Tata is also expected to pack the Racer with extra features over the standard Altroz like the new 10.25-inch touchscreen, segment-first ventilated front seats, a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera and a voice-assisted sunroof.
Powering the Altroz Racer will be the Nexon’s 120 hp, 1.2-litre unit paired with a 6-speed transmission which puts it above the Altroz Iturbo which is powered by a 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. With a more powerful engine, this sporty Altroz will directly compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line which features a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 120 hp/ 172 Nm.
Expect the Tata Altroz Racer to be priced higher than the iTurbo and directly compete with the i20 N Line which currently costs Rs 10 Lakh to Rs 12.52 Lakh. Other competitors at this price point also include Maruti Fronx and its badge-engineered sibling Toyota Taisor with their 100 hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines.
