Renault subsidiary Dacia has recently revealed the updated Spring EV with huge changes from Inside and out. While the name is not really popular in India, the car initially debuted in China as the Renault City K-ZE. This small EV is the All-Electric derivative of the Renault Kwid. The Spring EV will hit the roads of Europe later this year and looks quite distinct from the India-spec Kwid.
The 2024 Dacia Spring EV gets a new look which sets it in line with the newer Dacia and Renault models such as the third-gen Duster. Changes include the revised nose which is more upright now and features a Dacia grille flanked on both sides by Y-shaped LED DRLs. The main headlamps are placed lower on the front bumper which also houses blacked-out housing vents.
From the side, the Spring EV bears a resemblance to the Renault Kwid with doors and wheel arch design. However, the 15-inch wheels fill out the wheel arches nicely and there are new decals on the C-pillar that have the model’s name.
The overhauled rear section features a sticker finish along the centre section with refreshed tail lamps and now get the Y-shaped lights with a prominent black trim piece that connects the tailgate and rear light cluster.
The Spring EV also gets a bunch of features including, the 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, front power windows, central locking, and rear parking sensors with higher variants including a 10-inch touchscreen, bi-directional charging, air conditioning and more.
Other features include ADAS features, which have been updated with the latest European regulations including an advanced emergency braking system with pedestrian, cyclist, vehicle and motorcycle detection, rear park assist, traffic sign recognition with speed alert, rear park assist, lane change alert, lane keeping assist and driver attention warning.
Powering the Spring EV is two electric motor options – a 48 kW (64 bhp) unit which is offered with higher variants while the base and mid-spec models with a 33 kW (44 bhp) unit. Both motors are paired with a 26.8 kWh battery pack that offers a range of up to 220 km.
Dacia further informs that the charging options include a 7 kW AC charger as standard with support of up to 30 kW DC fast charging. The brand also states that the new updated Spring EV will commence in Europe by mid-2024 and it remains to be seen whether the Spring EV will come to India as it is or as an updated Kwid.
