Yamaha MT-03 India launch at Rs 4.60 lakh

The Yamaha MT-03 is finally launched in India as reported last month and priced at Rs 4.60 lakh. This is the first time this bike has come to our shore and the high price is due to the bike being a CBU unit imported from Indonesia. The MT-03 has been launched alongside the revisiting R3 and serves as a bigger brother of the MT-15.

Yamaha MT-03 – Highlights

The design of the MT-03 is similar to that of the smaller MT-15, which is quite a popular and well-liked product in our market. Although the face carries the same menacing and aggressive look, the body of the Yamaha MT-03 is much larger and more muscular. But like Yamaha’s other bikes, the weight of the bike is 167 kg paired with a seat height of 780 mm, which makes the MT-03 a light and easy-to-ride motorbike. Also, since this bike is wider than the MT-15, it’s quite comfortable too.

Like its sibling, the MT-03 is quite simple and minimalist when it comes to features and comes with a dual-channel ABS, USD forks and a digital TFT display. However, despite the high price, the bike misses out on features like Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, traction control and even USB charging, which we can see in lots of budget bikes nowadays.

The Yamaha MT-03 is similar to its faired sibling, the R3 with its USD fork, chassis, subframe and the same 321 CC parallel twin motor which churns out 42 hp and 29.5 Nm. And while the MT-03 looks and feels a lot more muscular than the R3, it shares the same 14 L fuel tank.

The Yamaha MT-03’s closest rival is the KTM Duke 390 in terms of its purpose, which costs 3.1 lakh and is a lot more affordable than the Yamaha due to its single-cylinder engine. Currently, there are no other naked bikes in this segment that sport a twin-cylinder engine, however, that might change in the future since Aprilia is currently working on Aprilia 457’s naked sibling.

This bike might struggle a bit along with the R3 since they are quite expensive due to being CBU units and the lack of features makes it even worse, but the smooth engine and good power delivery make sure your every ride is effortless.
