Big surprise for Royal Enfield fans! Royal Enfield finally showcased the Shotgun 650 alongside the launch of the new Himalayan at the Motoverse 2023. Previously there were reports that a surprise bike would be uncovered alongside the new Himalayan and it turned out to be the upcoming Shotgun, which was also spotted during its test runs two months ago.
The one showcased here is a limited edition factory custom version and only 25 of these will be sold, each priced at Rs 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom). What’s special about these models is the intricate paint job which is done by hand.
Though the paint job won’t make it over to the production spec, this limited edition Shotgun does give us an idea of what the Shotgun in showrooms will look like. The Shotgun follows the same Royal Enfield design language with round and retro elements, but it has its own unique roadster vibe, especially with this limited edition paint job and chopped fenders. The Production Spec will be offered with a pillion seat which can be removed by removing 4 bolts.
The bike shares the same main frame and 648 cc parallel-twin engine with the Super Meteor 650 but just like I mentioned above, the bike has its own unique vibe to it. The engine sound is also different, courtesy of the new pea-shooter style exhausts and weight change. Since it sports the same 650 cc engine, expect the power to be around 47 hp and 52.3 Nm mark. The suspension has also been revised due to the weight change.
The main difference between the Super Meteor and Shotgun is the ergonomics – The shotgun has mid-mounted footpegs and a flatter handlebar as compared to the Super Meteor. The Shotgun is also reportedly shorter and narrower than the Super Meteor.
Also, do note that is a factory custom build, which obviously has a more premium build with excellent fit and finishes across all levels, even the small bits like the brackets for the rider’s footpegs are well-finished. So, it’s better not to expect the production-spec Shotgun 650 to have this exceptionally high level of finishing, since the bike will be mass-produced.
