Royal Enfield Fuel Fury 650 Based on the Bear 650 Revealed

Royal Enfield recently revealed their Fuel Fury 650, a custom scrambler based on the Bear 650. While RE bikes are hugely popular in India in their stock build, the brand has been doing a lot of custom work on their bikes to unlock exciting new possibilities for enthusiasts. Royal Enfield Fuel Fury 650 Custom: Based on the Bear 650

Based on the Bear 650, the Fuel Fury 650 is a modification project led by Fuel Motorcycles, a Barcelona customisation marque, that transformed the bike for desert races. Assisted by Spain-based Bandarra Motorcycles, the Fury has received a larger 21-inch wheel at the front compared to the 19-inch unit on the Bear, while the 17-inch rear wheel size has been retained. However, for optimal off-road traction across desert terrains, the Fury 650 gets Mitas Dakar 6 tyres.

At the front, the Fury 650 gets dual headlights with a rugged tubular protector alongside modified enduro forks, while the rear gets Bitubo shock absorbers with a gas canister. Both sides are fully adjustable and extended. The stock form of the fuel tank has been retained, but it gets grip pads. The Fury 650 also features custom foam seats with a waterproof Alcantara top layer and contrasting red stitching.

The bike has also been fitted with a retro-styled instrument cluster compared to the Bear 650, which uses the Tripper Dash. This console has an integrated navigation system with GPS roadbook, odometer, tachometer, speedometer and rally controls for effectively navigating deserts. There’s a Motogadget as well for important data readout.

An off-road exhaust has been used, although the design seems similar to the design of the stock unit. The rear features a specially crafted fender, which is handmade from fibreglass material. Other customisations include rally pegs, skid plate, foam grips, handguards and a raised front fender.

Royal Enfield Fuel Fury 650 – A Tribute

The Bear 650 gets its name from Eddie Mulder’s 1960 Big Bear Run victory, which was historic since Mulder, a 16-year-old at that time, had won the challenging 150-mile desert race against 765 competitors, with only 197 of them completing the race. Eddie won the race, even after facing obstacles like a crash that damaged the bike’s handlebar, shock absorber and exhaust.

The bike used in the race was a Fury 500 from Royal Enfield, which is the primary inspiration for the customised Fury 650. The brand even offers a “Two Four Nine” variant of the Fury 650, which is inspired by Fury 500’s “249” Numberplate. It’s the top variant priced at Rs 3.59 Lakh (ex-showroom). The modified Fury has a chequered flag livery similar to the “Two Four Nine” variant. Additionally, the custom bike will also feature Big Bear Run graphics.
