Husqvarna has revealed the Svartpilen 801 which is the brand’s largest-capacity street-oriented motorbike. This modern retro streetfighter borrows the engine from the KTM 790 Duke. The bike brings a lot on the table other than being an absolute powerhouse.
Firstly, the heart of the Svartpilen 801 is the same liquid-cooled, 799 cc parallel-twin unit used in the KTM 790 Duke that generates 105 hp and 87 Nm of Torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a bidirectional quickshifter included as standard.
While connected by the engine, the KTM and Husqvarna models are distinguished by their design. While the Svartpilen 801 has a more clean and minimalist scrambler look, the KTM 790 has a more attention-seeking and aggressive streetfighter aesthetic. The bike comes with dual-purpose Pirelli MT60RS tyres with pretty much industry standard tyre sizes – 120/70 (front) and 180/55 (rear).
The Svartpilen 801 comes packed with lots of techs as well such as a new 5-inch TFT instrument cluster and switchgear with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation as standard, unlike other large cc KTM models. The Svartpilen 801 also gets 3 riding modes – Rain, Street and Sport and other features such as switchable traction control and cornering ABS. There’s also an optional accessory Dynamic Pack that adds in Cruise Control, 5-step adjustable wheelie control and more.
Currently, Husqvarna has no plans to bring the Svartpilen 801 to India, although, with the rising growth and demand for high-capacity motorbikes in our country, the brand might just decide to bring it here (fingers crossed!), along with the comeback of the KTM 790 Duke which was discontinued back in 2020. Hope Pierer Group’s subsidiaries notice their absence from the big-bike game in India and take action soon.
